ROASTED TURKEY BREAST — THE COOK WITH JAX WAY

Golden. Juicy. Bold. Simple.

A roasted turkey breast can be the star of the holiday table—or the perfect Sunday dinner when you want all the comfort of a full roast without cooking enough turkey to feed the whole neighborhood.

And here is the best part:

You don't need 30 different bottles of seasoning to make it incredible.

That is exactly why we created the Cook With Jax Core 3: All-Purpose, Gar-Lick, and Rub U Right.

Three seasonings. Endless possibilities. From the oven to the grill, smoker, skillet, and everything in between, the Core 3 is all you need.

For this turkey, we're putting them to work.

THE CORE 3 TURKEY GAME PLAN

Cook With Jax All-Purpose builds the savory foundation and brings everything together.

Cook With Jax Gar-Lick brings the garlic-forward punch that turkey absolutely loves.

Cook With Jax Rub U Right adds a touch of sweetness and helps create that beautiful, flavorful golden exterior.

Want to take the herb profile another direction? Sage's Bird Dog is a great salt-free option with rosemary, garlic, and sage—but don't think you need another bottle to make this recipe work.

The Core 3 has you covered.

Because turkey doesn't need complicated tricks or a cabinet full of specialty ingredients. It needs heat, a little fat, proper technique, and flavor that actually shows up.

Life is too short for turkey that whispers.

INGREDIENTS

For a 4- to 6-pound bone-in, skin-on turkey breast:

  • 1 turkey breast, approximately 4–6 pounds

  • 2 tablespoons softened butter

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • Cook With Jax All-Purpose Seasoning

  • Cook With Jax Gar-Lick Seasoning

  • Cook With Jax Rub U Right

  • 1 cup chicken or turkey broth

  • 1 onion, halved

  • 2 carrots, roughly chopped

  • 2 celery stalks, roughly chopped

Optional: Fresh rosemary, thyme, or sage.

STEP 1: PREP IT RIGHT

If frozen, thaw the turkey breast completely in the refrigerator. Plan on roughly 24 hours for every 4 to 5 pounds.

Remove the packaging and pat the turkey very dry with paper towels. Moisture is the enemy of crispy, golden skin.

Check the label before seasoning. Some grocery-store turkey breasts are injected or pre-brined with a salt solution. If yours is, simply use a lighter hand with seasoning.

Place the onions, carrots, and celery in the bottom of your roasting pan and set the turkey breast on top or on a roasting rack.

STEP 2: UNLEASH THE CORE 3

Gently loosen the skin over the breast without tearing it.

Mix the softened butter with Cook With Jax Gar-Lick and All-Purpose and spread it directly underneath the skin. This puts the flavor where it matters most—right against the meat.

Lightly coat the outside with olive oil.

Season the entire turkey with All-Purpose and Gar-Lick, including the underside.

Then finish the skin with a light layer of Rub U Right.

Don't bury it. Rub U Right brings a little sweetness that helps develop a beautiful exterior, but because sugar browns quickly, a light finishing coat is all you need.

Three bottles. One turkey. Done.

If you have time, season the turkey and refrigerate it uncovered for 8 to 24 hours before roasting. This helps the seasoning penetrate and dries the skin for even better browning.

No time?

Season it and cook it.

Great food doesn't have to be complicated.

STEP 3: ROAST AT 350°F

Preheat your oven to 350°F.

Pour approximately 1 cup of broth into the bottom of the roasting pan—not over the turkey. We worked too hard building that seasoning crust to wash it off now.

Roast the turkey uncovered, skin-side up.

A 4- to 6-pound bone-in breast will generally take approximately 1½ to 2¼ hours, but don't cook turkey by the clock alone.

Your thermometer is the boss.

Begin checking the internal temperature around the 75-minute mark. Insert the thermometer into the thickest portion of the breast without touching the bone and check multiple areas if necessary.

For food safety, the turkey needs to reach 165°F in the thickest part. To preserve juiciness, you can remove it when it is around 160–162°F only if you verify during the rest that carryover cooking brings it to 165°F. Otherwise, continue roasting until it reaches 165°F.

If the skin starts getting too dark before the turkey is finished, loosely tent it with aluminum foil.

And resist opening the oven every 15 minutes.

Let the oven cook.

STEP 4: LET IT REST

Once cooked, transfer the turkey to a cutting board and loosely tent it with foil.

Let it rest for 20 to 30 minutes before carving.

Don't skip this.

Resting allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat instead of running across your cutting board when you slice it.

Use that time for something better—make the gravy, warm the sides, pour the drinks, and get everybody headed toward the table.

Because the table is where this was all headed anyway.

DON'T WASTE THOSE DRIPPINGS

Those browned bits and seasoned juices in the bottom of the roasting pan are liquid gold.

Strain the drippings into a saucepan, skim away excess fat, add broth as needed, and bring everything to a simmer.

Thicken with your favorite flour-and-butter roux or cornstarch slurry.

Then taste it.

Need more flavor?

You already know what to reach for.

A small shake of Cook With Jax All-Purpose or Gar-Lick can bring the gravy home.

SLICE IT RIGHT

For a bone-in turkey breast, carve down alongside the breastbone and remove each breast section in larger pieces.

Lay the meat flat and slice across the grain.

Don't slice it paper thin. Slightly thicker slices hold their moisture and stay warmer on the platter.

Spoon a little warm pan juice over the sliced turkey and place those crispy pieces of seasoned skin right on top.

And yes—the cook gets first dibs on a piece of crispy skin.

That's kitchen law.
